EBRD Award for Energy Efficiency
In 2019, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) presented GBG with an award for its contribution to advancing energy efficiency in the industry.
The award was based on a decision by GBG: the installation of a top-quality air filtration system at its cement production plant. This filtration system is considered one of the best in the industry.
The air filtration system reduces the dust emissions generated by the cement production process — something directly linked to the health of the Tbilisi residents living near the Avchala construction site and to the quality of the surrounding environment.
This investment by GBG is a practical expression of the company’s values — a sense of responsibility that extends beyond the production process to people and to the environment.
The EBRD award, together with the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certificates, confirms that GBG is a company within the Georgian construction industry where responsibility — for quality, for the environment and for people — translates into concrete, measurable results.
GBG has been operating since 2005, employs 145 people and is a founding member of the Cement Association of Georgia.
